School Leadership

Kelly SmithDear CEC Windsor Parents and Guardians,

It is with great pleasure and excitement that I introduce myself to you as the principal of Colorado Early Colleges (CEC) Windsor. I am honored to have this opportunity to lead a new school within the CEC network. I am blessed to be a part of an organization that believes in giving students the chance to pursue a growth mindset that will allow them to succeed in school, college, and their chosen careers. CEC Windsor is a safe, caring, inclusive learning environment where students and teachers work together to find success and create experiences to last a lifetime.

My love for education started when I was young, always knowing that I wanted my education to continue after high school. I obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from Texas Tech University, and I also earned my first teaching certificate in Secondary Mathematics. After moving to Colorado in 2005, I obtained my Colorado teaching certificate and, in 2017, I earned a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Northern Colorado, along with a K-12 Principal License. I have been an educator for 22 years; having been a school leader in a K-8 charter school in Colorado and having taught mathematics in grades 6th through 12th in both traditional public and charter schools in Colorado and Texas. I have a passion to foster the amazing amount of growth, both academically and socially, that happens in students. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead a school that is designed to meet students where they are at and help them grow into young adults. My staff and I will also work hard to prepare students for the ultimate goal of attending one of CEC’s high schools, where they can earn an associate degree and/or industry certification for FREE.

Along with an amazing team of student-focused teachers and staff at CEC Windsor, I will work hard to continue the traditions of CEC by building strong relationships with students, parents/guardians, and our community. We will focus not only on academic learning, but also on developing life skills and people skills in a supportive environment as to prepare students for a successful high school education and beyond. We will continue to offer small class sizes that encourages active participation and personalized learning, challenging each and every student, every day.

I am looking forward to working with you, as part of our team, to ensure all students have a fun, successful middle and high school experience.

With appreciation,

Kelly Smith
